WATERFALLS

Waterfalls 'Roman Baths' from Cetea

 

Cetii Gorge zone covers an area of 75 hectares, in the west of the Trascaului Mountains, territory which can meet numerous rocky slopes, with forests, pastures and meadows. The route to these gorge from Galda de Jos to Cetea is a well known route, the most famous area being here Ramet Gorge.

The Cetii Gorge were carved into limestone in form of needles, towers or masses of debris and are surrounded by lush vegetation, consisting of beech forests, oak, birch or pine. The cavitys in the rock, known as the Marmite, is a tourist attraction too little known. In longitudinal section, waterfall has a difference of 35 meters over a length of about 50 meters and comprises four waterfalls with heights between 3 and 10 meters.

 

The biggest is approachable only by climbing technique and equipment. Cetii Gorge, within which are the 'Roman Baths' waterfalls, formed by interception by Cetii Valley of a limestone erosion formations that was fragmented into four 'stones'. 

Each of the four 'stones' were called by locals as 'Sanditau' on the left, and on the right are grouped 'Sasa Stone' with the top cut like a giant of stories and 'Ticuiata' which has the top a higher peak and, ultimately, the 'Mariuta' stone.

Popular name 'Roman Baths' was attributed by the locals and is a series of four waterfalls of different sizes, which have formed at the bottom, small lakes with flowing water. Near them were traces of dwellings from the Bronze Age.

 

The Gorge are to only 2.5 km from the village Cetea, access to them is quite easy for a traveler including inexperienced with mountain. To the gorge and waterfalls it goes on county road from Galda de Jos, and from the village Benic, go to right, to the Cetea village. To arrive at the 'Roman Baths', after exiting the village Cetea, go on the road besides Cetii Valley.

 

Another objective that can be visited in this area is Narcissus Glade, Nature Reserve. It is a very picturesque area that invites tourists to relax and spend time outdoors.

On the boundary of the Galda de Jos commune, with the Intregalde commune, in the village of Poiana Galzii, find Leisure Centre Roica, or Roica school Camp, in a very picturesque area, with a total of 150 beds. You can choose to stay at Camp Roica but most people who come here, to really feel the nature, spend the night in tents.

Throughout the upper cours of Galzii Valley, in the mountain zone, from the village Galda de Sus until the Camp Roica were built and are built holiday homes, through the wide valley, picturesque, situated along the road DJ 107 K.

 

Deficiencies shows the poor state of the road and lack of power over a length of about 5 km, which can compensate with private generators.

 

Roica is a wonderful place, perfect for those who love hiking and nature. Wild landscape and natural beauty of the area with rocks, forests and hills draw you from the entrance to Galda de Sus village where you see topside, like monuments, the two massifs of Intregalde Gorge.

 

Roica Leisure Centre is a destination for any tourist who wants to take part a few days of relaxation in nature.

Perhaps the most impressive work of nature that we find here is Roica Waterfall. You'd like to see it if you pass by this area. The crystal clear water that wash stones, inevitably draws your eyes. Although the waterfall is not very high, water depth which accumulates is over three meters.

The area of Galda de Jos commune is full of natural beauties protected springs and forests, hills and cliffs kidnap your eyes. One such place, where nature surrounds you, is found to Roica. Clean air, cold water and a wonderful landscape surprise you at every step.

 

On the hill near the camp can be seen and a stylish Greek Catholic churches built of wood. All of these are found only 36 kilometers from Alba-Iulia.

 

Roica Leisure Centre is situated in the commune of Galda de Jos, at 36 kilometers from Alba-Iulia. The road is simple, easy to go and can be reached on two routes. One of them leaves the main road leading from DN1 Alba-Iulia to Cluj Napoca. After Oiejdea village you will find a sign on the right indicating Galda de Jos village to the left.

If you keep that way, on DJ 107k towards Poiana Galzii and Benic, you'll arrives in Roica. Another way to arrive is passing through Ighiu commune. From Alba-Iulia starts to Zlatna and to the railway from Sard, is transferred from right to Ighiu where, toward the exit, follow the pointer to left, to Intregalde and it arrives in Roica.

Waterfall Vanatarile Ponorului

 

Waterfall Vanatarile Ponorului is an attraction of  Vanatarile Ponorului Nature Reserve, located in the south western region of Trascaului Mountains, Alba county territory. This impressive waterfall formed along a huge sinkholes, creating a charming landscape, successfully completed the noisy sound of water flow. Reserve with an area of 5 hectares, is located at an altitude of 680 m and was declared 'spelunking type nature reserve ' in 1969.

Waterfall Vanatarile Ponorului is located in a very picturesque area, in point of confluence of the Ponor Valley,  Glade Valley and Dry Valley.

 

This natural attraction consists of a series of several waterfalls, whose total length measures about 70...80 meters, recording a high flow, especially during spring after snowmelt, or after rainy periods.

 

Tumultuous waters flowing in rivers is moving in a cave underground portion Dalbina Cave, continuing on course to Papara's Huda Cave.

 

Waterfall name is suggestive, especially because eggplant colored stripes that are left by water on the walls of limestone cliff from here.

Waterfall Vanatarile Ponorului

In the vicinity of waterfall, meet scenery as beautiful, represented a small portion of the river waters flowing here, meet the massive rocks, creating some beautiful gorges. The entire landscape can be admired from a specially designed point, represented by a small wooden bridge.

 

Access to Vanatarile Ponorului is possible by route 107 DJ Alba Iulia - Ponor - Mogos by localities Ramet - Glade Valley - Bradesti - Vale in Jos, or on DC 105 of the Salciua de Jos and Sub Stone to the villages Lower Valley or Glade Valley.

 

In these charming places in the Transylvanian area can visit several tourist attractions, of which deserve to be mentioned Monastery below Stone, located near Papara's Huda Cave declared historical monument, or Ramet Monastery and Rametului Gorge.
