Massif Bulzul Galzii or Bulzului Stone

Massif Bulzul Galzii or Bulzului Stone is a geological limestone block, represented by a sharp ridge-shaped, with a height of 971 meters, dominating the village Poiana Galzii, located in Alba County, the administrative territory of the Galda de Jos. It is located in the south-east Trascaului Mountains, on the middle of the river Galzii Valley, the interfluve of the river Galzii Valley to north and the Tibru creek to south.

Bulzului Stone, calcareous block, is detached from a limestone cliff, slipped on the wave in the southern continental Trascaului Mountains, and around vegetation consists of grasslands Festuca rubra mesophilic associates of Agrostis tenuis and local of Nardus stricta, formed in Following deforestation of oak. In limestone blocks cracks and shelves with lower slope appeared calcicole herbaceous associations.

The reservation surface is 0.12 ha, and limestone ridge has a length of 200 m and width of 60 m. It is an area covered with forests and meadows with mesophilic plants. Properly reservation itself includes only limestone block, but the buffer zone extends 200...300 m around, including both the forest and pasture in the north and northwest.

Bulzului Stone with Magura Stone and Grohotisului Stone in nearby are isolated large detached blocks of a limestone cliff, slipped on the continental slope of the South of Trascaului Mountains and settled in Cretaceous flysch formations, standing out in relief by erosion selective.

They are found on the slopes and ridges of leveling medium surface known as Maguri-Marisel 1 between 900...1100 m (higher stage).

From the geological point of view are Jurassic limestone blocks klippe olistolite dominating form of sedimentary formations composed of conglomerate, sandstone, clay (wildflisch) lower cretaceous, highly eroded. The predominant soils are acid brown and brown soils formed on cretaceous flysch. On limestone soils are found rendzinas and humic-calcium soils few inches thick.

Access from the Galda de Jos village is on the road DJ 107 K to the village Poiana Galzii where you go on a trail that climbs about 2 km on the Bulzului creek to the top of Bulzului Stone.

Massif Cetii Stone

Massif Cetii Stone is considered one of the most impressive massifs that are found in Trascaului Mountains. Along with Tecsestilor Gorge, Cetii Stone massif presents difficulties in terms of access, unlike the rest of larger massifs nearby as Galzii Gorge, Intregalde Gorge, Turcului Gorge, Monastery Gorge, and Ramet Gorge.

The pit cave of Cetii Stone (cave with vertical development), located near the peak Cetii Stone (altitude 1233 m) is created at the intersection of layer surface tectonic cracks.

It is a hole formed due to erosion caused by water lixiviation. Initially, the dissolution of limestone by water infiltration ditches were formed and subsequently by progressive deepening of these ditches, which was developed by a small pothole formed stage two wells, one of 30 m and another of 18 m, total 48 m, deep pit the total development of 68 m.

Base pit develops as small rooms full of material fall (boulders crashing). This room can keep snow until late spring.

Pothole has two adjoining openings, the first of 5 mp and the second of 2 mp, at a depth of 1118 m.

Massif Cetii Stone

The pit cave of Cetii Stone, place surrounded by mystery and legend, was first explored by Teodor Ludusan and his team in 1982. Where were measured 48 meters deep and 68 meters long. In pit cave it can be seen a small spring temporary , stalactites, montmilch leaks.

Around the pit cave there even a few legends. Thus, it is said that a sheepdog slipped in pit, dog owner trying to remove but can not and abandoned there. A few days later the dog was found on Galzii Valley, 6 km from the pit, in a karst spring waters. Remarkably, dog was found alive.

Another legend says that in the past an adventurer, who came from the city, was let down in the pit cave with ropes in the bottom of pit cave sustained of a youth group. The young man had to be taken out when the rope shake. Young people waited outside and have waited all the rope expected to be moved and seeing that nothing happens decided to pull out.

From this point the story has two versions. The first says that the end of the rope found him scared the adventurer, white as a sheet, looking troubled and terrified eyes.

Pit Cave of Cetii Stone

This man was not a word consultation all rest of his life, panic and horror of what happened and seen in the bottom pit putting him dominion. In the second version it says that the end of the rope have found it just a hat of young adventurer.

And all this, because it is said that in that pit solomonars lived with their dragons that could travel through clouds and rain could bring. But with all this, tourists can walk quietly admiring the landscape with steep cliffs, forests and meadows quiet without fear that they can meet with monsters that bring rain.

Massif Craivii Stone

In the west of the locality Galda de Jos, within the forest zone limit, rises a huge rock Craivii Stone, which dominates by his haughtiness, other heights surrounding from Galzii Valley and from middle Mures Valley.

Massif Craivii Stone was always the image that dominates the skyline from Galda de Jos. Craivii Stone is located about 15 km from Galda de Jos (including the forest road) in southeastern Trascaului Mountains, near the village Craiva, between Cricaului Valley and Bucerdea Vintage Valley, at 1,083 m altitude.

From the top of the rock Craivii Stone, you can admire the massif Bulzul Galzii, Cetii Stone and can be seen, in the distance, locality Galda de Jos, Craiva, Tibru, Teius and up to Alba-Iulia Aiud, Zlatna, it is not surprising that on this peak haughty founded the Dacians a towering fortress.

This massif limestone called Craivii Stone what is now known everywhere by important Dacian fortress Apoulon found here on the cliff top at 1083 m altitude.

Massif Craivii Stone and surroundings

Going from Galda de Jos to Craivii Stone, asphalt road ends at the exit of the village Craiva and, from there, to pass forest road by foot deserves. The landscape is really wonderful. Subalpine grasslands dominated all the way, with flora specific of rocks, herds of sheep being in their world. Several times meet dense clusters, especially hawthorn, and several times the road enters the woods. It can proudly say 'I was there', given that the road is hard, but the impression left by landscape and presence of Dacian Fortress Apoulon worth the effort.

Considering all the above, and aside from that Craivii Stone emotional one for me is, this place is, on the one hand, an area of unsurpassed beauty, still untouched by 'civilization' and, the other hand, a place full of history, less known to the general public. That is why, as the 'son of places', I felt it my duty to make known to everyone, this wonderful Transylvania area.

Massifs Detunatele

Massifs Detunatele or Detunatele Cliffs of Apuseni Mountains landscape are one of the attractions of the Metaliferi Mountains, more precisely from Bucium commune, Alba county. Naked Detunata and Shaggy Detunata are two massive volcanic rock located 1.2 km apart, protected areas geological and geomorphological interest, placed under protection, the first since 1938 and the second in 1969. Now the protected area covers 24 hectares Naked Detunata and the Shaggy Detunata, 5 hectares.

Naked Detunata rises to an altitude of 1169 m and has no forest areas with rocky walls of a peculiar splendor due to the basaltic-andesite coasts. Cliff wall has a altitudine of about 75 m.

A large amount of broken stones, consisting of fragments of columns of rock detached from the massif stone is  itself impressively, by the great mass which is collected here and the size of these fallen columns.

Shaggy Detunata get to an altitude of 1265 m and is forested with spruce, but there are still some walls andesite / basalt which can be seen from afar.

The name 'Detunata' of this grouping of cliffs comes from the fact that the detachment of the massive stones produced by dropping a noise like thunder.

Naked Detunata and Shaggy Detunata

Protected area 'Naked Detunata' remarkable by this basalt columns hexagonal-prismatic shaped, located in the endless chain of peaks of the Metaliferi Mountains, a peak, with altitude relatively modest represent, together with 'Shaggy Detunata', high points of interest . While 'Shaggy Detunata' owes its name to a spruce forest cover does not offer too many possibilities geological examination, 'Naked Detunata', devoid of forest reveals their spectacular magmatic physiognomy.
